My first learning activities at school
On Monday, 31st August, 2015, I went to bed as early as 8:00pm. In my sleep, I had a dream about my new school. I made new and exciting friends; interesting and motivating teachers, also appeared to me, in my dream. One of the teachers had been on duty on that day and led us to sing a nursery rhyme:-
Tick, says the clock,
Tick, tick!
What you have to do, do quick!
Today, is Tuesday,
What you have to do, do quick!!!
At the shout of the last stanza of the poem, I woke up suddenly, from sleep. It was just 3:10 am. I couldn’t go back to sleep. I pondered over the dream again, wondering what the meaning could be.
It was now, 5:50 am; Tuesday, 1st September, 2015 – my first learning day at my new school – St. Anne’s R/C Pry/JHS.
I rushed out of bed to pick up my tooth brush and paste, ready to brush my teeth. I then, ended the routine, by washing my face with clean water.
At 6:00 am, my mother called us all together, for our morning devotion. We all knelt down for a word of prayer. My mother concluded the prayer, by blessing us. We all responded with a loud Amen!
Between 6:20 am and 6:30 am, I had taken my bath and prepared myself for school. I wore my new glittering white school uniform and beamed with smile.
We had breakfast at 6:45 am. My mother took me out to wait for the school bus. The bus arrived at my bus stop on time – 7:00 am. It was a smooth ride to school. We arrived at my new school at the right time, fixed for silent hour – 7:30 am. However, since it was the first day at school to begin a new academic session, the bell boy rang the bell for Assembly. But, because I was new to the school, I went straight to the head mistress’s office. ‘Thank God, she’s arrived’, I said to myself, when I saw her. ‘Hello, Benita’, she said to me. ‘I’m fine, madam’, I responded. She called on my new class teacher, Mr. Theophilus Mbir to take me to join my Class 3 line at the Assembly ground. He warmly welcomed me to school, with a tap on my shoulder. I smiled at him.
At the Assembly ground, a few children had gathered to listen to the call for prayer/morning devotion, like I saw in my dream. On Class 3 Roll call, only 8 pupils had arrived for school, out of a total of 16 children in the class.
The children smiled at me as I joined them on the line. The teacher on duty was Mr. Boafo.
‘Good morning, Jesus, good morning, Lord’, was the song, as he led us in prayer. We continued, … in quick response.
After the Lord’s prayer, the school prayers were sang, followed by the National Anthem, the Pledge and the school Anthem in quick succession. Mr. Boafo later, welcomed all to school and wishing us a successful new academic session.
Madam Mavis Ntiamoah, the head mistress, later came to address us and called on a senior school prefect to lead us with a marching song.
‘The day is bright, it’s bright and fair,
Oh happy day, the day of joy;
The day is bright, it’s bright and fair,
Oh happy day of joy!!!’
All sang along as we marched to our various classes on a straight and coordinated line with smiles on our faces.
My second appearance at school
Great was my expectation on this day, Monday, the 24th day of August, 2015. By this time, the two-week Summer Classes organized for the pupils were over. The school was empty of children, noise and filth. My mother and I had earlier on been asked to return to the school and make the necessary school fees payment and other legal commitment.
We arrived at the school premises at exactly, 8:00am to meet the presence of a teacher, called Mr. Boafo. As experienced the first day at school, Mr. Boafo equally gave us a warm-reception. ‘You are welcome, madam,’ was his first words. ‘Please, have a seat’, he continued. ‘Hello girl’, he also, said to me. I replied, ‘I’m fine, sir’. He rubbed my hair with his fingers. I felt, cool.
Mr. Boafo had come to prepare the office ahead of the teachers’ Staff meeting. I later learnt that, it’s usually, held a week before school re-opens for the new school term.
Soon, it was 8:45am, then came Mr. Ernest, the Assistant head teacher of the school. He smiled at me, while I greeted him, ‘good morning, sir’. With a loud voice, he responded, ‘good morning, my daughter’. ‘How do you do?’ ‘I’m fine’, with a smile on my face, I replied.
After exchanging pleasantries with my mother, Mr. Ernest had a brief word with Mr. Boafo, who later excused us. Mr. Boafo smiled at me and waved at us, to leave the office.
At this time, other members of staff, started arriving at the school. Mr. Ernest requested for the list of books given to my mother the first day we came to the school and the part-payment of school fees as promised, to pay. The sum of GH¢350.00 was paid to Mr. Ernest as part-payment of my school fees and another GH¢150.00 only, as the cost of some textbooks and exercise books, supposed to be supplied by the school. My mother also gave the Assistant head teacher, two-passport-sized photographs of me, as requested by the school authorities, on the admission form. My mother was issued with a receipt of payment for all transactions made on that day.
At about 9:30am, the entire school staff had arrived for their meeting. Madam Mavis Ntiamoah, the headmistress of the school, also came later at the time we were about leaving the school, for home. We exchanged pleasantries as she put a beautiful smile on her face. Madam Mavis later introduced us to the other school staff. She called on one Mr. Theophilus Mbir to meet my mother and I. Mr. Theophilus was going to be my class teacher, as school resumes on Tuesday, 1st September, 2015. He was full of smile on his face, as he welcomed us to the school. ‘You’re welcome,’ he said to us. ‘I look forward to seeing you, next Tuesday’, he said. ‘Okay, sir’, I replied. My mother gave Mr. Theophilus a warm handshake, as we bade everyone, ‘good bye’!!!
My first appearance at school
The day was Tuesday, the 18th day of August, 2015. I woke up from sleep on that fateful day, at about 5:30am. I had longed for that day to come with excitement – what am I going to do on that day? Who am I going to meet? Will I make new and interesting friends? All of these and many more ran through my mind. Then came my first day of appearing at school.
I left home in the company of my mother as early as 6:20 am. Soon, we arrived at the school – St. Anne R/C Pry/JHS, at about 7:55am. Even though schools were on vacation, Summer classes were going on. At long last, my long dream of going to school had come true. Our first port of call was at the Assistant headmaster’s office. Mr. Ernest was kind and calm. He gave us a warm and refreshing welcome to the school. From his warm reception, I had a feeling and the expectation that the school year will be an interesting and rewarding one.

#computer# hard disk# memory# maintenance# software
A few simple steps will help you keep your files safe and clean.
* Step 1: Update your software* Step 2: Backup your files* Step 3: Use antivirus software and keep it updated* Step 4: Change your passwords
Developing ongoing maintenance practices
Now that you’ve done some ground work, it’s time to start moving into longer term maintenance tasks. These are all tasks that you should do today (or as soon as possible) to get started. But for best results, make these a part of a regular maintenance schedule. We recommend setting aside time each week to help keep your computer secure.
* Back up your files. Backing up your files simply means creating a copy of your computer files that you can use in the event the originals are lost. (Accidents can happen.) To learn more read our tips for backing up information.
* Scan your files with up to date antivirus software. Use your antivirus scan tool regularly to search for potential computer viruses and worms. Also, check your antivirus program’s user manual to see if you can schedule an automatic scan of your computer. To learn more, read our tips for reducing your virus risk.* Change your passwords. Using the same password increases the odds that someone else will discover it. Change all of your passwords regularly (I recommend monthly). Also, choose your passwords carefully..
Making a schedule
One of the best ways to help protect your computer is to perform maintenance regularly. To help you keep track, we suggest making a regular “appointment” with your computer. Treat it like you would any other appointment. Record it in your datebook or online calendar, and if you cannot make it, reschedule. Remember, you are not only helping to improve your computer, you are also helping to protect your personal information.
#wealth# money# position# power
2 Wealth Building Models
Everyone wants to make more money, but people are generally split into two categories:
Those who bring results after they are promised wealth first Or
Those who bring the results first, then are rewarded by others afterwards.
Let’s explore the two groups in depth.
Those who only move their butts after promised big fat paychecks are more like employees, freshmen, or mercenaries. There is no right or no wrong with this kind of thinking, but consider: you are once again, trading your precious time for money. Instead of investing your time in an ASSET that generates money, you spend your time working on something that is short term, limited wealth, and does not give you income long after you have stopped working. Consider also, that this kind of short-term vision will only produce limited or temporary
results at best. Ever seen a security guard asleep at work when the boss is not around?
Furthermore, the part where our emotions get the better of us is when we allow our lives to be run by chasing the dollar. It is evident whenever an employee is offered a higher salary, more medical benefits and longer vacations, that their heart starts pumping faster.
A higher salary doesn’t mean less financial problems. On the contrary when your income goes up, your commitments, your tax bracket and your time spent in your company increases.
The greater your salary, the weaker your position because if your boss
is paying you a 5 figure income and calls for an emergency meeting, you had better rush over to the office even if you are halfway making love to your wife!
I think the best definition of an employee/boss relationship can be summed up as this:
An employee will only do the bare minimum to keep the boss from firing them and a boss will only pay the bare minimum to keep an employee from leaving.
Now let’s explore the other group.
There are many creative people, inventors, entrepreneurs, and business leaders who fall into this category.
An entrepreneur is someone who always has good ideas.
The first obstacle we need to overcome if we want to succeed in the second group is to stop working for money.
What does this mean? Isn’t making money part and parcel of having
good financial IQ? What I mean by ‘stop working for money’ is not working for free. Rather, it means work so as to gain the necessary skills you need to be a successful entrepreneur (or inventor, investor). Allow me to illustrate:
If you lack the contacts for running a business, where would the best place to be to look for contacts? Of course, your competitor’s customers.
How about product knowledge? Then work with a company that will teach you all the ins and outs of the tricks of the trade.
Not familiar with the production line of a factory? Work in one! Learn the ropes or manage the factory workers.
Fear of talking to people? Get a sales job where you will be forced to talk to lots of people.
It is also a great way to develop perseverance!
Don’t you know that the best education you can get is in real life?! Not at a lecture hall?
The bottom-line is: not everybody has what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur!
It is not that easy. Many lack the perseverance, the creative mindset, the financial capabilities or the necessary people to get the job done and usually give up too early before any results can be seen! The fastest way to get those skills to succeed is to learn them hands on and you even get paid in the process! Don’t get absorbed with how much you are
paid.
When Donald Trump was selecting candidates in ”The Apprentice”, their first task was to go to the streets and sell lemonade! Many would find it a degrading task. But to The Donald, it was very important: If you can’t even do something as simple as sell lemonade, how on earth can you handle a daunting task like running the Trump Empire?
Again, let me emphasize:
Would you trade time for short term money? (Money stops coming in when you stop) Or Trade time and money for a long term asset that generates you income? (Even long after you
have stopped) God created us with a brain. All we need to do is look around us and observe problems to overcome because every problem is an opportunity in disguise.
It is all up to you. You may or may not see the results in the short term, but by using our brains and the resources around us, we can create true value that others are willing to pay for what we have to offer.
#finance# money# invest
You must FIRST invest in your Financial IQ.Having good financial IQ is not about saving tons of money or dumping them into mutual funds. It is developing a healthy relationship money and building a wealth of assets that will generate you money.
What does it take to develop your financial IQ?Delayed gratification is one of the most important aspects to developing your financial IQ. Take this as a hypothetical example.Would you pay for a pint of milk or a cow?If you buy milk, it is consumed and it is over. You will have to buy milk over and over again when it is finished. Even if the milk costs less than a cow, in the long run, you will still be buying milk again and again.
Now, if a cow were to cost 50 times more than milk, you might pay through your nose when you purchase the cow, but after consuming 50 pints worth of milk from the cow,you would break even on your investment and save more money in the future. In fact, the cow might give birth to 2 or more calves and you could sell one of them for profit!Get the idea?
EVERYONE is capable of creating wealth. When you take a beat up old car and give it an overhaul, paint it with a new coat of paint, and change a few more parts to make it start running again, you could sell that car for more money than if it was just a beat up old car. You would have created wealth in the process! How about a farm? If you turn a farm into a country home getaway resort, wouldn’t the value of the farm land increase manifold? It is the same principle for chefs, computer programmers and craftsmen. The sum of the whole is greater than the parts. We are all capable of creating wealth even out of thin air and that is the first step to getting our creative juices flowing.
The value of anything is defined by supply and demand. You don’t need to be a Major in economics to understand this. Money is just an idea.Remember the desert island example? The true measurement of money is not the cents or dollars it represents.
If you have developed a product that people want, would they pay more to you than usual? Would you apply your skills in creating good assets?Bottom-line is this:Invest in assets that bring long term value. Anything that brings you more income is an asset. Don’t invest too much in liabilities like cars or boats.Even houses are not considered assets until they are fully paid off (If you lost your job tomorrow and you can’t pay for your house, is your house an asset or liability?)
Are you willing to step out of your comfort zone and pay the price for financial IQ or ignore the signs of the times and expect your boss, the government and the bank to take care of you financially for the rest of your life, living below your means and never taking risks to better your family’s future?
